William Boyd McGehee, III, CIC—President
Bill was graduated from the University of Alabama with a Bachelor of Science in Insurance in 1972. After working for several years in Atlanta for Great American Insurance Company, Bill returned to Talladega to work with his father in the family business. Today, he is president and owner of the agency. He has served on the Board of Directors of the Alabama Independent Insurance Agents Association and as an officer of the Southern Underwriters Association. As mentioned above, Bill also holds a Certified Insurance Counselor designation.In addition to his work and activities in the insurance industry, Bill is extremely involved in community activities. He has served as a vice-president of the University of Alabama National Alumni Association, was the founder and chairman of the board of Antique Talladega (an organization for downtown revitalization and economic development), and was also founder and a member of the Board of Directors of the Talladega/Texaco Walk of Fame.
Bill is also a past president of the Kiwanis Club, Ducks Unlimited and has been on the board of directors for such organizations as the Talladega County Department of Human Relations, the Berman Museum in Anniston, the Jemison Carnegie Foundation, the Talladega Arts Council, Talladega City School Foundation and the Industrial Development Board for Talladega. He is also an active member of St. Peter’s Episcopal Church where he has served on the vestry and as Sr. Warden.
Phillip M. Underwood, CIC- Producer—Personal and Commercial Lines
Phillip began his insurance career in 1974 as an agent in Opelika, Alabama. While in Opelika, Phillip served as a director for the Alabama Independent Insurance Association (AIIA) for two terms and also served as chairman of the young agents committee.In 1984, he moved to Atmore, AL to become a partner in a real estate and insurance office. While in Atmore, Phillip was a director for AIIA for one term and served as their convention chairman . He was also an active volunteer in the community, and in 1990, served as president of the United Way.
Later that year, Phillip moved to Talladega and began work at Talladega Insurance Agency. In 1993, he obtained his CIC designation. Currently, Phillip serves as Director of the Talladega County Chapter of the American Red Cross and is once again a director for the AIIA. Phillip is also an active member the Kiwanis Club and St. Peter’s Episcopal church.
